None of the six referral hospitals has electricity. This lack of lighting poses a real problem for the work of doctors, nurses, obstetricians and other staff on night duty, who are forced to use candles or torches to light offices, operating theatres, wards, etc. Patients in hospital, pregnant women and new-borns are particularly vulnerable, since they spend the night in the dark because of the lack of electricity. Worse still, urgent surgical procedures such as caesarean sections are carried out in unacceptable conditions.
This project consists of the installation of a 21.6 kWp solar power system in one of the six reference hospitals of the diocese with a battery storage system of 35 kWh. This system will serve as a reference for the installation of similar systems in the other hospitals. The health and treatment conditions for patients and the working conditions for staff have significantly been improved. Security on hospital premises has definitely improved thanks to the use of reliable energy sources.
Professional maintenance of the installed solar power system will ensure a long service life.
