Radio Católica Nacional del Ecuador is one of the most important radio communication media in Equador. The link from the parent station in Quito to the repeaters in 5 Ecuadorian provinces worked via satellite signal Intelsat 11 whose performance was limited and costly compared to IP solutions.
With the passage of time and the depreciation of equipment, transmission quality turned quite poor, resulting in a poor signal compared to the operating conditions of all broadcasters, especially in the country's capital, Quito. The replacement of transmission equipment and modernisation of radio equipment was therefore urgent in the Quito matrix, because as the current equipment deteriorated, so did the coverage and signal strength.
With the support of BEGECA the station could modernize the transmitter system, as well as the studio and move to an IP solution. Begeca supported the project with its technical expertise as well as with funds from the Katholischen Zentralstelle für Entwicklung e. V. (KZE)
